I did watch it with him and what I noticed is because he is right at the age of anticipating Kindergarten, he loved Rachel being the "teacher". He was glued to her and enamoured by everything she was teaching. He plays the Thunder & Lightning song over and over which is great because he is terrified about Thunder and I think learning about it and hearing it in song allows him to understand what Thunder really is and it soothes him.
In this Episode, Rainy Day, the weather interferes with the groups plans to play outside. It starts to thunder, then the rain comes and Abacus Finch is terrified. The other preschoolers help encourage him to learn about the weather so he doesn't have to be so scared. This set did the same for my son, he was learning and repeating what he learned and I know the next storm we have, I will remind him about these lessons and it will help sooth him. With the different learning elements used this episode is able to touch on several concepts from weather concepts, problem solving, rhyming, sign language, story telling, courage and more!
Below, I finally video taped my son watching the show to give you an idea of how captivating and scientific the lessons are. This was about the 6th or 7th time of him watching this and it shows the Episode at his favorite song-not to mention he thinks Rachel creates her own electricity.....
