Children's Book Review: Hugo & The Secret To Happiness

Hugo They Happy Starfish and The Secret To Happiness is a character education book that teaches children that it is not things that make you happy, but the values you can't see that make you feel good.

Hugo takes hours, days, months then a year to satisfy himself with the things that he wants. He ends up with time with a friend, a nap, a day of fishing and a treasure chest to buy all the things he has ever wanted. yet each time the thrill of those things wore off, he found himself feeling sad and incomplete. His friend suggests he find some happiness by just sharing what he had with other's. He agrees and feels his heart do all sorts of somersaults and flips-he was feeling empathy!

There are small Spanish suggestions in here as when his friend describes the concept in time in Spanish: Hour (Una hora), Day (un dia), Month (un mes) and Year (un ano)...

The characters are adorable and the illustrations are Bold and colorful. My son loved hearing the Spanish references adn at Age 4, the attitude empathy is a struggle as he learns to relate sharing to something positive. I will pull this book out frequently for him as I work on sharing especially as he starts school next year! Find this book and other adventures with Hugo at http://www.mystarfish.org/hugos-books. And you can also find THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH) on  Amazon!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
