About the town I live in: Gig Harbor

Blog Post Hop

I wanted to do something a bit different and share about the town I live in as it really is a cute little town and deserves to be recognized. Gig Harbor is located about 45 minutes south of Seattle-towards the Kitsap Peninsula. It is a Maritime town. Many Commercial Fishing families live here as well as the retired one's. This city is primarily middle to upper class and a real Family town. We have an excellent School District and a great Parks and Rec Department. The scenery is beautiful and I only wish we had better weather to enjoy the outdoors around here a bit more. However, rain really does bring beauty outdoors. Mt Rainier is the backdrop over our waters.

There is some beautiful Real Estate and Parks. Our boys can roam town with no worry to us. Festivals on the Waterfront happen numerous times in the spring through fall. Many of the streets are past residences names who are known as Fishing families from the beginning of Gig Harbor's Era in 1888!
The most popular commodities here would be Seafood, Wine and Restaurants! Many small businesses are nestled throughout town. We are also supportive as a small city of our school's athletes. The rival Football game each fall between both High Schools (The Fish Bowl) draws a huge majority of our town.
Mostly, as I said earlier The Scenery is the real beauty!

Review & Giveaway: I Am Happy! with Sukey Molloy Children's CD

I own a lot of Music CD's and DVD's for my son and there are 2 types of CD's I love. The one's that are fun, but gentle enough for bedtime and the CD's that have Silly Songs. Sukey Molloy's music is just that! Fun and sometimes silly! She really speaks to the toddler age and her lyrics are simple and easy to learn. I Am Happy! is the third CD in her series and her co-producer is Grammy-winner Larry Alexander (he also has produced releases from Diana Ross (six albums), Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, and David Bowie and others).
My son is 3 1/2 and at the perfect age for her music. This particular album is suitable for Ages: 2-5 and will retail for around $15.99 and includes 18 dongs. . My son has a few favorite songs already like Riding on a Ferry, Counting Song and his favorite is I Put My Scarf on my Head (see video below)! This is the type of CD I play at clean up or when I feel like turning off the TV to do chores around the house. If I play HIS music, he is more engaging in helping out and stick by me as I clean. I highly recommend this CD for any toddler you know!

Car Talk: Impress your man with this knowledge

Would you just go Nuts if your car had to be absent for some time? I would be LOST! We depend on it so much, but us gals hardly give thought to how important the maintenance and care for our vehicle is. Our Car is like our child-our world- and like a child, our car has needs or it will drive us nuts!
So, as a blogger I love the fun "weekly subjects" that Bloggers' have and have been thinking of a topic that is different, but useful. My husband is a District Manager for a Major Auto Retailer, so I figure that since us Mommies tend to leave the Car stuff to the men, that to some it may be fun to learn a thing or 2 about a subject we don't discuss very often. My husband's company frequently posts articles that can teach anyone about the maintenance and care for their car. Can you guess the company my husband works for? :-)

O'Reilly Auto Parts

...Wow! You're good!

I decided that I will post a random article each week or so. Take it as new knowledge or a way to impress your hubby or man or to share with your teen and find a common subject to discus and teach your older child something useful about their BIG world of driving!

Enjoy!!

I was not compensated or contacted to write this on behalf of O'Reilly's or any other company that may be mentioned in the Article. All opinions and links are my own recommendations.

Review & Giveaway: La Bella Stella-Celebrate Earth Children's CD

I had the privilege of reviewing this excellent Children's CD that is set to be released on Mach 27 by Recess Music. Recess Music produces many environmentally-themed music CD's. La Bella Stella has 15 songs that teach your child about the Universe. The songs on "La Bella Stella' are most entertaining for children ages 4 and up. Some of my son's favorite songs are I Love the Dark (ironically, as he HATES the dark), Aurora Borealis and Safe at Home. Each son is sung by established Musicians that you may have heard from before. I usually play CD's for my son when he is in the bath, at Bedtime and quiet play and this CD is suitable for all 3 of those times. It is entertaining, but not loud and too active as I have been playing it at bedtime also. I just love the music behind the voices that include light rock, strings and percussion in the majority of the songs. At 3 1/2 my son is right at that age to ask questions and is realizing things that he sees everyday, but just never made himself aware of. When I sat and listened to this CD with him, as that is what it takes to really make my son pay attention to the words, has him asking questions and learning. He talked to me about the Dark after listening to track 2 and told me he wants me to buy him a rocket ship toy while we were listening to the Galaxy Song. I have chosen to Home School him for Preschool and I have now used this CD to start introducing Science, which I had not done yet.
I hope you are now looking forward to the March 27 release of "La Bella Stella," the fifth in its “Celebrate Earth” series of CDs (Big Round Records, $12.99, for ages 4 - 11, run time 41 minutes).

Review & Giveaway: CrindelStar’s Story & Song card

CrindelStar - Where The Universe Dreams
How cute is it to have sent to you a ~4x4 Card that you can take a code off the back to download a Story and Songs, then plant that seed card and grow Wildflowers in your garden? This Unicorn Story is just that! CrindelStar is the Unicorn's name and Maria is the Girl who is faced with the peer pressure at school to let go of the belief she still holds in the existence of Unicorns. It is a story for both genders and leaves your child with the advantages of holding on to their dreams and realizing that those dreams may hold an important role in their future. I do not want to give the entire story away! The Theme Song is great and you get the song Card also!
This is not a Book or a CD..no waste at all! This is a single card illustrated like the photo above. The back has a Code that you would enter at the website given and after you download the story and song. You (and your child) can plant this card directly in the garden and grow your own Wildflowers. This can be downloaded onto any computer file of your choice. Mine is in our Zune Music file. I had it playing for my son during quiet play. He sat and listened to the story as he was coloring. I told him we will plant these in a month or so when weather allows. He sees it on the fridge and is anticipating that day!
This is a perfect gift to mail to a child in your life..you can purchase HERE and for $3.99 send it off!

Review: An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo E-Book/Coloring Book

I recently received a Copy of An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo for Tablets and the Coloring Page link that came with it. My son is 3 and we had a blast with this book. He loves Animals and reading and the colors and illustrations are very captivating. He cannot read words, but we had long discussions about what we saw in each photo and his imagination went wild. This is a great Home School and Teacher Resource. It is a Book of Children's Poetry and a source for their imagination! Each page pertains to each letter of the Alphabet and the animals are beautifully illustrated. This is a fun book and great entertainment on the go!

My Own Review: My New Adidas SuperNova Running Shoes

I have been on a hunt for some good Running Shoes. I had recently posted a Review (and currently have a Giveaway) for the Fit Moms For Life Book and found it to be an absolute favorite compared to any Fitness Article or Book I have read. I set up a regime for me at the Gym and started last week. I had been doing mostly Cardio-ellipticals and Treadmill, but not very intense exercising because I really didn't know what I was doing! I now to Strength Training and Cardio Bursts. That still requires a Treadmill, but a faster run and higher  intensity that I was not used to. Day 1 and I had swollen ankles (don't have ankle issues so not sure why they swelled) and I was too sore to walk very far for days. About 4 days later, did it again (thought maybe I'd focus on how I ran and try not to land too hard) and I had swollen ankles. So, finally I decided it has to be the SHOES! These $19.99 specials just aren't cutting in and did some research and asked friends for recommendations. I had it narrowed between some NIKE and Adidas Shoes. It was the Adidas Shoe Finder that helped me narrow down my results. It said the Sequence and Tempos were right for me. I found a pair I loved on Amazon and they were on sale PLUS free shipping! Here they are:

adidas SuperNova Sequence 3 Running Shoe

I am in heaven! I can feel the extra support where Shoe Finder said I needed it instantly. I have no issues running. It is like magic (OK, logic really!) and the only negative thing I have to say is I wish I found these sooner! It actually feels good to move in these. Not saying that as in it makes moving or running feel better, but it actually feels good to walk around. I want to walk and run with these on. I have never payed attention to my feet and what support I may need and I could not stop pacing when I put them on.
I have to say that I encourage EVERYONE, whether you run or not to take the Shoe Finder test and find the shoe for you! You will wish you had done it a long time ago. I bought these for a BDay gift for me. I never know what I want and now I can say that if you are like me and you are asked what you want, remember the Shoe Finder and find your shoe, pick the style you want and search for a good deal.

This review is my own and I was not compensated in any way by any Adidas or Amazon. I did recieve a Fit Moms For Life Copy for a previous review I did and have mentioned in this post.

If you are a new blogger starting out and want to know the best way to gain followers, then there are some easy and inexpensive ways to gain those followers. They do take TIME though and TIME is the number one expense you will need to building your blog. Here are the 3 Top Tips I have found that is helping me!

1. TIME and Keep posting. Don't have Sponsors to review for..review your Own products you use. After
you write your post then Plaster it on your FB page, Twitter, Google, etc....

2. Blog follower Hops. Google: "Alexa Rating Hops", "FB Hops", "Twitter Hops". these take time.
Respectfully, you are required to visit so many other blogs (like you) and follow them or leave comments
and in turn, you ask them to follow you! Many, many blogs offer these Hops. Here are some I found by

  • Personalized Pacing System-Runs assessments on you child and caters Assignments to their level
  • Offers 'Report Cards' per say. You log on to the Parent connect and can read your child's progress
  • Over 3,000 Activities and Tutorials
View the Tutorial Video HERE!
My Review
I actually use this on my son who is 3 1/2. He LOVES it. He asks if he can do his "Lessons" almost daily. What I love is how simple it is to navigate. I can leave him totally on his own. He sees the large arrows and X's that guide him where to click next. There are no ads so he cannot stray from his lessons. I loved the support. Within days of starting the program, I had an email from them saying they see I have started and wanted to know about who would be the user. I gave her a brief synopsis. She recommended my son play around with Lessons BEFORE doing the Assessments and I am glad we did. He was able to learn the controls and get a bit comfortable with it. They stress to NOT help your child and I didn't except for some reading he needed from me. HERE is a copy of his "report" so you can see how organized the assessment results are.
They also keep a Blog you can follow so you are up to date with changes or services they support. And of course, they have a Facebook Page also you can follow.

Why I Blog

Almost 2 years ago, I stumbled across a blog that was having giveaways. I thought "How Fun"! It was a Giveaway for a Chico Bi-lingual talking Car. My son was a year and a half and I was to send in a photo of our summer. I sent in the photo from our Road Trip and our stop with my cousin's girls to Animal Kingdom near Vallejo, Ca. He was fascinated with the Dolphins and below is the photo that won. The PR group picked my photo and I won. I was hooked on entering Giveaways ever since. I started a Blog to really just have the option for extra entries in Giveaways like joining some social sites on it and blog about giveaways I was entering.

The Winning Photo..

Around this past summer, I decided to jump on the Blogger Bandwagon and started by doing my Own Picks of products to review. I joined Giveaway Events and Hops to gain followers and recently became a member of some PR Groups who do an awesome job finding Review offers so I am not left wondering about the legitimacy of a sponsor. I am having a blast. I love to write. I love supporting business owners and especially love sharing my fun finds and quality products with others. I do not blog for money, just as a hobby and if I can make one person smile by having them reading something witty I write as I do sometimes or by emailing a winner notifying them they won a product then that makes me happy!StumbleUpon

R.I.P. Charlie & Braden

I know the Powell Boys' are known to everyone in the Nation..and beyond. Their Life began in Utah and ended 30 minutes from me at the hands of their Father in Graham, Wa. It was evident they were happy with their Grandparents and is even more obvious that although every agency and every welfare worker involved did everything they could to keep those boys safe, that our system really lacks a Common Sense structure. That is all I have to say on that note..I am no critic.
Today I watched the Funeral and could not keep a dry eye the entire service that aired locally. In the end, the Pastor pointed out that both the Cox AND the Graves Family have united around these boys and reminds us all to not forget that even in extreme, emotional roller coasters these families went on regarding this 2 1/2 year trial..that in the end they came together to celebrate 2 children. May that be a lesson for everyone and may we pass that to our own children! Susan has her Babies back and they are our Angels now.

In Loving Memory of Charlie Powell 2005-2012 & Braden Powell 2007-2012

I was recently asked to Review the Book: Fit Mom's For Life by Dustin Maher . I thought "Why Not!". There is so much information, videos, books and flyers that ALL want you to know how to get fit! I had to yet really find one that captivated me until this book arrived and I started on Page 1! It didn't take me many more pages to create a Note page on my tablet so I can take notes. There was so much USEFUL information and education that I had seen lacking in other sources. His philosophy just makes sense!

What the Book teaches (besides a Bonus of Videos/Downloads-a $59 value FREE with the book):

  • Traditional Cardio Doesn’t Lose Fat
  • You Can’t Work Out to Compensate for Poor Eating
  • See Results 9 Times Faster With Burst Training
  • Learn ONE Exercise That Shrinks a Waistline WITHOUT diet changes
  • Burn Fat While You Sleep
  • A Healthy Environment Equals A More Fit Family

My Breakdown (broken down straight from my notes):
  • Make Time: More Me Time=More Energy=You Crave More Me Time
  • Goals: Start Small: Create a 4 Week Goal, as well as that Final Goal
  • Diet: Drink More H2O-work up to 8 C/Day, Keep Diary-Calorie Count for 1 week
  • Before Beginning: Take Measurements as instructed and Photos, Note My Goals
  • Calories: 1,500/day. Eat Natural when able,  Eat 4-5 Small Meals/day
  • Avoid: FAKE sugars, Trans Fats, No Grains after 4pm,
  • Workout: Warm-Up, 30 Min Strength Train, ~20min Cardio Bursts, Cool Down
Questions you will have answered:
  • What on that Food Label do I pay attention to?
  • Define Good vs. Bad Sugars?
  • Everybody needs Carbs-how do I control what Carbs/how many?
  • Exactly what do I do in the Gym-start to Finish?
  • What foods do I really need to/or not need to buy Organic?
  • ...and many more answers!

On the Website I found a video I really like..I encourage you to watch it and learn his Philosophy!
