Grilled Watermelon
Hmmm. I will have to try this to decide if grilled is the way to eat Watermelon, for real! Cut wedges at least 1/2 inch thick and brush w/ an Olive oil mixture. You can add minced onion or garlic, some S&P, herbs. Then Grill about 2 minutes on each side. Top with Fudge, Ice Cream or Fruit. Here is a recipe from Food Network.

Grilled Romaine Lettuce
Cut a Romaine head in quarters so that root is still intact to hold leaves. Grill open side down. Top with a Balsamic or olive oil dressing or bacon bits, Blue Cheese. Here is another Food Channel Recipe:
Grilled Bananas
Cut a Banana length-ways, but leave in its peel. Grill 2 minutes face down. Fill peel pocket w/ Chocolate pieces, Nutella, Marshmallows, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, etc.... and grill another 5 minutes on the peel side. I think the romaine lettuce sounds the best. If I liked bananas, I might actually try this recipe! I know my kids and husband would love it. Everything tastes better grilled! :)
ReplyDeleteI am not so sure about the watermelon, but I have had grilled bananas and they tasted like sweet squash to me.
ReplyDeleteYou should try grilled corn on the cob (if you haven't already)! Just wrap it in foil and throw it on for about 15 minutes rotating them often. Much better then boiling them in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI found this post to be very interesting, but I would never grill watermelon or lettuce! I do not think I could even grill bananas! I like to grill vegetables though! Grilled onions and corn is so delicious!
